Time for Me (part 2 - Beauty) and enter to win a $100 Visa gift card

This is sponsored content from BlogHer and Olay.

Last week in my month long series, Time for Me (part 1), I was discussing how I just weaned my daughter Matilda.  I nursed her for 15-months and it was finally time to call it quits.

Now that I have my body back, I have been feeling like it is time to finally focus on me.  I have been using my Olay 7-in-1 Mosturizer with Cooling Hydration and it seems to be doing the trick.  My skin has been feeling great!

So now that I’ve got my skin care going well, I decided it was time to update my make-up collection.  I have had some of my make-up for far too long (probably dangerously too long).  Have you heard of the make-up brand “Benefit”?  Well, if not you must check them out.  I used to use this make-up exclusively, but ended up trying some other things out over the years.  But yet again, I come back to the best (what I think is the best).  I swear this make-up is a miracle cure for the too tired, stayed up all night sewing, running after two toddlers Mom.  Not to mention that they have totally adorable vintage inspired packaging and the most adorable names for their products.

So, here's what's in my make-up bag........

Clockwise from left to right:
1. Eye Shadow Brushes
2. Powder Brush
3. Blush Brush
4. "Hello Flawless" Powder
5. "Bad Gal" Mascara
6. "Some Kind of Gorgeous" Foundation
7. "High Brow" Highlighter
8. Cream Eye Shadow
9. Eyeliner
10. "Sugar Bomb" Blush
11. Burt's Bees Lip Balm
12. Concealer

Pair this make-up line with the new Olay 7-in-1 Moisturizing Lotion with Cooling Hydration I have been using and I must say, I am feeling good!

So, what's in your make-up bag? What is your beauty regime?  Do you have any skin care or make-up products that you swear by?

  2. I have no make up routine and that is the problem! I just use a little powder and mascara, but I really need to up that after 2 life with 2 toddlers. I'll go check out your links!

  3. I don't know about the makeup since I use MAC almost exclusively but the MAC makeup brushes and Burt's Bees lip balm are the BOMB!!! Love them!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I love Bare Escentuals. I started using them about 4 years ago. I mostly use the foundations and blush but have tried a few other items as well.

  5. Benefit is great - I've used their make-up primer before and it's great. My number one, can't live without product is plain, old Vaseline. I use it every night on my lips and I never have capped lips - it's great in the winter. As far as make-up, I love Lancome mascara - they make the best! And Nars blush/bronzer combo is another favorite.

  6. I have been thinking it is time to switch up my make up as I have been using mine for way too long...use Bare Minerals. Always looks good, but sometimes it is just time for a change :)

  7. Ahhh, I'm almost out of my face powder, and I would love new makeup!

  8. I love Clinique products. I use eye lash primer, brown or black masacara, usually some shade of pink eye shadow, a pink blush, and a lip gloss or Bamboo pink lipstick. I also LOVE Blistex lip blam.

  9. My routine needs some help. I turn 40-something this week and my steps remain:
    1. moisturizer
    2. Cover Girl pressed powder
    3. Burt's Bees lip balm

  10. I only have moisturizer, blush and lip gloss in my makeup bag. I don't have much of a beauty regimen.

  12. I don't have a lot in my makeup bag. Lip stain, eyeliner, blush, concealer. It could use some help, lol. I really don't have a beauty regime either.

  13. My makeup bag is full of wonderful Benefit products that have not seen much use. Probably needing to be replaced. I love the BadGal mascara and the lip primer. I also loved their Georgia Peach shimmer set from a few years back. Had to toss...age! Maybe when Baby is a bit older I will use pretties again!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Love Bare Minerals! Need a new mascara and eyeliner, and use Burts Bees lip balm several times a day. I also use a morning moisturizer by avon that a friend gave me to try that is fantastic.

  15. Even though I am the mom of 8, I really try to do my makeup whenever I leave the house. It just makes me feel better. I use Proactiv because at the age of 39, I still tend to breakout! I use Sheer Minerals foundation and eye shadow. I love the original Loreal eyeliner in black and CoverGirl Mascara in the orange tube also in Blackest Black. Best Mascara I have ever used! I also love Burt's Bees lip balm. Rarely wear lipstick because baby will just smear it lol

  16. My make up routine used to be super involved...but after spending 15 months traveling through Southeast Asia, where it consisted of Aveeno Daily Moisturizers SPF45 and Aveeno Moisture Lock Chapstick SPF45 I've downsized! I now stick to Neutrugena Mascara and maybe a little CoverGirl blush for some color (I'm a red head) and go with the more natural look - Quick and Easy!

  17. I am a busy mommy of five but I am from Georgia and we love our make up. I spend five minutes on me each day: a tinted moisturizer, black cream eyeliner, two coats of mascara and red lipstick (most days). Red feels fabulous and makes you put on "real' clothes because it would obviously look silly with sweats :-)I use mary kay make up products but I think what really makes them work so well is smooth skin thanks to philosophy vitamin C peels. Good luck getting your groove back!

  18. Sometimes with twin 2.5 year olds, I'm lucky if I can brush my teen before noon. LOL.

I'm not an every day make-up person, but when I do wear it, I really like my estee lauder collection.

For my daily face care, I use cetaphil wash and cetaphil 15 spf lotion. My skin is pretty sensitive, so that is what works for me!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would love new make up! I just use whatever is cheap because we are on a budget, but I would love to get a chance to buy good makeup!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I definitely have some things that I SWEAR by and once you find something, it's so hard to change!! I have used the same Cover Girl eye liner in espresso probably since I was 16 (have tried designer brands and they just dont work as well for me!) and the best mascara, in my opinion, is the Waterproof Loreal Voluminous in Blackest black! Works wonders!!! I also think concealer is the best thing ever invented!

Thanks for your amazing blog Lindsay!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Tweeted about you too! http://twitter.com/#!/emjonesnyc

    ReplyDelete
  22. I tend to change my make-up regimen every year or so. So, I don't have anything I really swear by. I do, however, always use the same Mary Kay concealer you have! I can't ever bring myself to spend a lot of money on make-up. I usually just buy it at Target. I would love to try Bare Minerals. Maybe that's what I could use the $100 gift card on!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've used mary kay concealer for years and swear by it! It's the only thing that seems to hide my dark circles. I LOVE Hypnose mascara by lancome as well. It's a little pricy, but I have yet to find a substitute. Thanks for the give-a-way!

    ReplyDelete
  24. My beauty regimen is simple. I use a Clean & Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub. I love the tingly clean feeling afterwords then I moisturize with Olay Complete. For my make-up I use a mineral foundation, eyeliner, mascara, & lip balm. I would love to win the $100 to update for the winter.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've been using Mary Kay products since I was a teen... they keep my super-sensitive skin happy and I love the new compacts that hold all my make-up so I can throw it in my purse on the go!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I use Bare Minerals foundation and eyeshadows, Great Lash mascara, and Say Yes to Carrots lip balm in Pomegranate.

I do love me some Benefit though:) Especially their blushes and highlighters.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love the Bert's Bees Balm...unfortunately that's about the extent of my beauty routine!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm a big fan of Burt's Bees lip balm as well and would use some of the money for new makeup for me :) Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I could seriously use an update!

    ReplyDelete
  30. 2 kids under 4..my makeup routine is the basics...foundation, eyeliner, mascara.
I soo could use that $1000 for a complete makeover and maybe even a spa day!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just bought my first 'good' make-up. Studio Fix by MAC. Love, love, love it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Some of my MUST have favorites include:
    1. Blistex silk and shine chapstick
    2. Mary-Kay Miracle Set
    3. Smashbox cosmetics
    4. Noxzema Clean Blemish Control Daily Scrub

I am a makeup junkie so the $100 would help fund my habit :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I used to only use really nice make up (partly because my skin freaked out with anything that cost less and partly because I was single and could use my money in that way). But when I got married, I felt guilty for spending so much money on make up. Now that I've had my baby and my skin has started acting crazy again, I've been getting back into a better make up routine. What's in my bag?
-Cortaid (MUST have to prevent my face from reacting to make up)
    -Alveeno ultra calming moisturizer
    -Clinique foundation
    -Cheap blush and eye shadow
    -Clinique eye liner
    -Cheap mascara
    -BareMinerals mineral powder

And I LOVE good quality brushes!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't have a lot of things I do for my morning make-up time. I do LOVE my maryKay foundation and lip gloss! But besides that the other stuff isn't really all that great. Just the simple eyeshadow (brown and purple everyday!), blush, eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss. I LOVE lip gloss. I don't use a cleanser but I do use a daily moisture cream w/ SPF 15 (before I put my foundation on). Thats about it for me. With 3 boys, I don't have a whole lot of time to get me ready so simple is best! =) It only take about 10 minutes total, I usually do this before the kids wake up or it might not get done. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. I do the same thing everyday:

    - Eucerin face lotion with 30 spf
    - Exuviance foundation, applied with a brush
    - Sally Hansen's line of Carmindy face powder
    - Carmindy powdered blush
    - Black eye liner (applied sparingly!)
    - Soft mauvey-brown eyeshadow
    - Maybelline Full & Soft Mascara
    - Sally Hansen chapped lip repair lip gloss

    ReplyDelete
  36. I used to do my face every day, but I've gotten into the really bad habit of simply doing moisturizer (at least I do that!). I really need to revamp my morning routine!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have a sad makeup bag...lol!! I pretty much buy whatever is on sale...other than foundation. I do love Neutrogena foundation!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. My makeup bag goes untouched for extended periods of time but I have mineral foundation, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lush lip gloss in it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. my makeup bag is pathetic. I usually only wear makeup for very special occasions and anytime I want to "dress up" I just do a bit of mascara, eyeliner and some lip tint. all of that stuff is from covergirl. I never really learned the proper techniques for makeup so that might be one of the reasons why I tend to go "au naturale" but I'm not as young as I used to be (ha, who is?) and now that I am running after a toddler, it might be time to start learn.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I pretty much use all mary kay stuff. I used to be so much better about it, but since child two came along, I have slacked off a lot! I need to remember how much better I feel when I take care of myself

    ReplyDelete
  41. I honestly wish I was more into make up. I seem to go through phases... one month I like wearing it, others I just barely touch it. I do however love urban decay eye shadow and their primer base! I decided to splurge one visit to Ulta and bought a set with a few funky colors and the base. I hope to use it this weekend for a girls outing. I would love to win the $100 to pamper myself with some new products to make me feel "special".

    ReplyDelete
  42. Beauty routine? Wash my face at the end of the day and then moisturize. Quick and simple. Makeup I can't live without. That green tinted concealer (for my red face). Love that stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My beauty routine consists of washing my face with a vitamin C cleanser from Trader Joe's, using the Eucerin face lotion, and then applying whatever Bare Minerals makeup I have left (it's expensive...)

My skin is o-k... I'm 23, I feel like my skin should be awesome! Gotta keep working on it :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have been using Bare Minerals as well for quite awhile. I love that I can apply more of it on days when I need more coverage, or just a bit when I need a touch. And, it's already powder--so the case can be thrown in my purse and nothing will break! I also love Lush moisturizing products. A big splurge, but they last awhile, and is the only moisturizer with sunscreen I found that doesn't make me break out.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I use very minimal makeup. Lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara. Usually whatever I can buy cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I use mostly Bare Escentuals. Some of my makeup varies but mascara with a real brush (not plastic) is a must! Eyeliner and lipstick are what makes a face.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I use Aveeno Moisturizer with SPF, then I put on Paula Dorf Primer, Mineral Foundation, FX concealer, Cover Girl Pressed Powder, I have never been able to find another powder not even MAC works as well for shine control. Then I put on Revlon eyeliner in Brown, and MAC eyeshadow in Handwrittten,(brown) Lash Blast mascara, MAC Blush in Plum Foolery, and MAC lipglass in Viva Glam VI. I guess I do love MAC, the lip gloss is the best color with a little sparkle. Same goes for the blush, the last time I ran out I tried so many blushes that I thought would be cheaper and they were awful, so I stick with MAC blush too.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Moisturizer with SPF, and lots and lots of full and soft mascara nothing compares to it, and I have tried everything.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Since I was laid off, I try to find inexpensive products and I discovered NYC cosmetics in our Stop & Shop supermarket. I think they might also be sold in CVS and Rite-Aid. They are only a couple/few of dollars for each item and they are pretty good cosmetics! I get the lipstick and eye pencils most of the time. If you see this brand, NYC, try it out! :)
    Best,
Gloria P.S. If you have extra money to spend, Clinique makeup and Estee Lauder are great!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I switched to all natural mineral makeup from an Oregon Company (Alima Pure) a couple of years ago. I really like their products and color selection. My beauty routine consists of face wash, moisturizer and the mineral makeup. Nothing too expensive, time consuming or drastic. Natural sunscreen in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well, my hubby and I love Mary Kay Velocity skin care even though it was designed for teens and we are far from it! As far as make up...I just grab what is on sale at Target...I really have no clue about applying and choosing colors. I could use some help there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I love all the color options of mac. Good luck trying something new.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I too love Bare Minerals. It's AMAZING! I don't have a routine I follow. Being a Mom, i'm lucky if I even get a shower everyday, let alone put on make up!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Okay this is bad to say I have no routine. I was a tomboy in school and would not wear makeup. Then I just becamse too embarrassed to ask for help on how to use it. So I really want to start with 3 kids. So yep definately new years resolution learn how to use makeup.

  57. My makeup bag consisted of: Olay face lotion with SPF 15, MAC Foundation (Full Coverage), Este' Lauder Powder and Blush, MAC Primer (I swear this keeps your eye makeup on for a long time), MAC eyeshadows and Maybelline's Define-A-Lash, MAC lip liner and lipstick and lip gloss.

    ReplyDelete
  58. My make-up bag and routine are both pathetic. Everyday, I end up wearing the same old crap I bought at Wal-Mart way too long ago. (How embarrassing!) I can admit it, I'm a little cheap, so I have a hard time spending much money on it. But I would love to try Bare Minerals sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I use a moisturizer, foundation to even out my skin town, eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and if I go out of the house I put on lipstick.

  61. To start, I use Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap in Pepermint. It's organic and leaves my skin feeling crisp, fresh and clean. Because it is veggie based, my skin stays pretty much oil free ALL day! (I have terribly oily skin) Then on to my bag of tricks...i use a little foundation and loose powder, cheap eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner...and some light blush. But that soap just energizes my senses and skin for the day...

    ReplyDelete
  62. I use Cetaphil products for cleansing and moisturizing. I love them! I also swear by Origins make-up because I have sensitive skin and their products are very gentle. Great stuff!

  64. I don't wear makeup usually, I think last time was at my wedding. I envy women who can apply makeup easily, but for me it's hell trying to put this stuff on. And I usually rather sleep a bit more in the mornings.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Right now, I'm using bare minerals because my mom bought me a bunch last Christmas. I guess that tells you how often I wear makeup.

  66. I love Bare Escentuals eye shadows - they have so many beautiful colors. And if you go into the store (at least the store here), they have samples out of them all so you can see what the colors really look like before buying, and find colors to use together easier.
